LOS ANGELES — If the Nets had any sense of poetry, they would’ve fired Lawrence Frank after his 13th consecutive loss.
Then Frank would’ve come in with the Nets with 13 consecutive victories (an NBA record for most by a coach to start a coaching career back in 2004) … and gone out with the same number of losses.
Instead, Frank was given the hook Sunday before the 0-16 Nets faced the defending champion Lakers in the theoretical mismatch of the NBA season. The Nets would’ve preferred to wait till after the game against the Lakers, which marked the last stop on their trip, but word got out that Frank was done, so they went ahead and fired him Sunday.
