Is the finger healed or isn’t it?
Pau Gasol will not play in Spain’s final tune-up game against Lithuania on Thursday because the doctor said he could risk further damage to his left index finger that he inujred last month while practicing with the Spanish National team.
In an interview with well-known Spanish journalist Jose Angel de la Casa (who probably can’t compare to Vic the Brick), Gasol said he hopes to get medical clearance by the time the European Championships begin Sept. 7.
“I’ll do everything I can to get confidence and that the finger get used to the situations of ball contact,” the Lakers forward said in the interview posted on his website.
Now, here the translation gets tricky. Was Gasol surprised at the Lakers’ reaction to his injury (were they less-than-pleased?) or were they supportive? Trainer Gary Vitti visited Gasol while he was in Europe two weeks ago to check on his finger
The 2009 NBA champion defined the behavior of the Lakers facing his injury as “surprising example.” I expected a different reaction, but they have given me great confidence and I have always been supported”, he confessed.
were is spelled like were…..not we’re. Bloggers!
thanks for the spellcheck.
He sounds like he expected the Lakers to be overly upset, but maybe they weren’t as ticked off as he expected and they probably surprised him by not geting in the way of him still playing in the Euro Championships.
But I don’t know…I won’t put words in his mouth.
