Gasol gives his finger a thumbs up

Those are words the Lakers and fans want to hear from Pau Gasol.

Gasol said on his website that he is optimistic about his surgically repaired index finger after seeing the surgeon Monday. The Lakers forward injured the finger on his non-shooting hand while attempting to block a shot in pratice with the Spanish National Team.

“It was a second care (visit), everything is going well,” Gasol wrote after being examined by Dr. Ramón Cancelo, the same specialist who operated on him.

Pau added that he is “eager is to begin to exercise”, but he still needs to wait an additional two weeks before picking up a ball. He still holds out hope of playing in the European Championships that begin Wednesday.

Lakers trainer Gary Vitti is expected to visit Gasol in Spain later this month. Just to make sure everything is
“going well.”
