Yes it was a good idea. If Boston, Sat Antonio or Cleveland had signed him it would be billed the second coming by you people in the media.

  • koopal says:

“They should try to keep Trevor Ariza instead.” ?

Is this still an option, is this still possible?? If not, moot point.

The fact is Ron will sign, and the Lakers will win or not, WITH Ron.

They already tried to keep Ariza, sure. But who wants to play for the champion Lakers, living in LA? He was insulted with only $5.6 million. Besides, Houston is waaaay better. I hear Yao Ming has a restaurant out there. And there’s a growing Vietnamese population too.

  • Rockets are way better??? Are you kidding me?? Yao is out and who knows if he’ll ever be back 100%. Plus, their lineup can’t be compared to the Lakers’, especially now that they got Artest. Bynum, Gasol, Kobe, Artest and either Fisher, Farmar or Brown will be the starting lineup. Are you telling me that the Rockets starting lineup can be compared to that of the Lakers?? I think not.
Ariza is a good player, but let’s face it, Artest is more experienced, gives better defense, is a better shooter, and will provide that toughness that Ariza didn’t provide. And it’s not like the Lakers didn’t offer him a raise. It’s sad to know that 5.6 Million wasn’t enough to satisfy Ariza and his agent for that matter. He’d prefer to go to Rockets rather than stay with a winning team that had a waaaay better chance of winning yet another title than the Rockets ever will. Who was Ariza before the Lakers got him? Did he forget who made him the player he is now? Maybe the ungrateful one here is Ariza, not the Lakers.

It wasnt up to Ariza was it?

Can you site the source that the Lakers actually offered Ariza the 5.6 mil? I think they wanted to sign Artest all along and told Ariza to walk.

Haha sorry, I know it’s hard to detect sarcasm online.

  • LakerFan says:

The Lakers should trade Bynum, Luke and throw in Sasha to the Rockets to bring back Ariza and a better point guard in Brooks.

  • Brett says:

Artest brings too much drama. He will no doubt disrupt the chemistry on this team. I don’t like this deal at all. Ariza will explode next year and the Lakers will be forced to eat some crow. Not good
