Charles Barkley says a lot of things. Sometimes he overruns his mouth. But does he know what he’s talking about?
He said that he didn’t know if Phil Jackson was the greatest coach of all time, but the Lakers top guy is “in the conversation.”
Barkley then went on to say that he didn’t think Jackson was coming back next season, having won 10 championships was enough.
“He’s definitely gone,” Barkley said. “That’s just my opinion, though.”
Barkley also offered up his thought on Kobe Bryant, who maintained that winning a title without Shaq wasn’t on his agenda.
“Kobe wants us to believe he didn’t want one without Shaq, the way he’s jumping around out there. C’mon, are you kidding me?” Barkley said. “Are you kidding me? He didn’t jump like that when they won the last three.”
With Barkley, there’s never a quiet moment.
Barkley is never right anyway, so who cares? How can Phil not be the greatest coach of all time when he has 10 championships to prove it? Nobody else has done that, so it would take somebody like Barkley who’s never won a championship at all to say a stupid remark like that.
10 Championships, most finals wins ever, also doing it in an era where there are alot more competitive teams. As far as the “he had superstars” argument, so did Red. Every team short of the 2004 Detroit Pistons had a superstar.
Barkley is lame, nobody takes that guy seriously anyway. Ever notices he always cuts off Kenny or Ernie on the show.
I do hope that Phil stays on…. but he has groomed Rambis to be is Protege, and I think we would be okay even if he decided to retire… I bet hed stay on as some sort of consultant though. What do you guys think about a statue being put up at Staples for Phil???? 4 NBA laker titles, and 6 Western Conference Championships…and lets just say hes built this team to compete for a few more. A statue of the Zen master at Staples… Id vote for it-

I used to think Barkley was pretty good in what he does on the air. This playoff, he was just against the Laker flatout, because he said, they’re the best but dont play consistently like the best.
He even contradicted himself, first on Yahoo he said Red is better because he won 8 consecutive titles, then last night going with Jackson.
He’s funny on those commercials, but that’s it.
Barkley is s dolt who will say anything to get attention.
