You might say Kobe is getting less hot and less crazy

April 14th, 2009, 10:59 am · 5 Comments · posted by KEVIN DING, OCREGISTER.COM

It’s not quite as good as the “hot-crazy scale” on the killer TV comedy  ”How I Met Your Mother” (think “Seinfeld”-esque cleverness with “Friends”-like chemistry … in other words, you’re missing out if you’re not watching it). But this brief chart should convey how it is for NBA superstars as their teams get better and begin asking less of them:

Kobe Bryant’s minutes per game the past four years, with this season listed last: 41, 40:47, 38:53, 36:12.

Bryant’s points per game the past four years, with this season listed last: 35.4, 31.6, 28.3, 27.

It just goes to show you why you have to pause before voting Miami’s Dwyane Wade the NBA MVP, not that many people are really going. Not many people are going to vote for Bryant, either.

D-Wade’s name probably should’ve never been in the MVP debate to begin with. Not taking away from his accomplishments, but they’re only 5th in the Leastern Conference. That’s not saying much when his main competitors are on teams that have the two best records in the NBA.

kevin, i like your columns very much, as i’ve told you many time, but you have to give it up. i think we all know lebron will win the mvp. it’s just annoying for you to say it over and over again. we get it. move on.

if kobe gets 5 first place votes it will be too many….it would be, lebron, wade, maybe dwight and then kobe. if lakers fans don’t want to admit it, then it’s on them, but move on from writing over and over that lebron will win and that you are voting for him.

it seems like you are justifying your vote, which you shouldn’t, lebron had a marvelous season.

Barnet Stinson- possibly the best character EVER.

He is legen- wait for it -dary

Kobe’s low numbers are a testament to this teams awesomeness

IF someone vote DWade for the MVP, it goes to show how stupid writers conspired few years ago to discredit Kobe the MVP during his 30 plus points per game seasons..

“hot-crazy scale”, ha. That’s great. Doogie is always good on that show, but I just can’t get into the others.

Kobe is getting older, wiser and mellowing out. Hope he doesn’t lose the all the crazy.
