OAKLAND — Sun Yue is not ready, but Phil Jackson is willing … sort of.
Jackson said Sun will be in the rotation tonight to relieve Derek Fisher for a spell for the injury-depleted Lakers, because the coach has little choice. Fisher played 41:33 Tuesday night, and Lamar Odom (knee) won’t be around to do any guard work.
“He has practiced hard,” Jackson said of Sun. “He has worked hard at his game. He’s not ready yet, but he’s going to have to play. He’s just going to have to play because he’s called upon right now.”
Jackson said Sun still needs work in organizing the triangle offense — especially under pressure. This will be Sun’s first NBA action in a road game, and Oakland is no easy venue for opponents. Sun’s first three NBA appearances to date have all come at Staples Center.
He is not ready yet.
But the fans, including myself, are cheering for him!
How could Sun be ready if he doesnt get playing time? He’ll play tonight? Yeah, for 5 mints? C’mon…. Phil could transform Sun into a BJ Armstrong (former Bulls) or be competitve as Tyronn Lue or other big guard.
