Luke Walton, dressed in a three-piece suit and brown dress shoes, walked gingerly toward the locker room. He walked as fast as his painful right foot would allow.
“It hurts to wear these shoes,” Walton said. “But the NBA has rules about what you can wear.”
Walton missed Sunday’s game because of sesamoiditis, an inflammation of the sesamoid bones that began in his right foot last Friday. The two small bones are located just behind the large toe.
He is expected to see Dr. Ken Jung, a foot specialist Monday and is out indefinitely pending the examination.
Looking for more passing, Coach Phil Jackson inserted Walton into the starting spot 11 games ago, making his first start Dec. 10 against Phoenix. He had been averaging 3.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He posted season-highs in points (14) and rebounds (5) against New York on Dec. 16.

Sasha Vujacic has tonsillitis, but was expected to play.

wow, Luke was going strong and now this huge setback. hope that Dr. Ken Jung gives Luke good news tomorrow. when I heard this, it spoiled my birthday weekend.
if the lakers plan to do anything good this season then they need to trade- the current team will be lucky to make it in the semi over the red hot rookie Blazers
What a shame…Luke finally gets his chance at regular playing time, and another injury pops up. I feel sorry for the guy, but it’s obvious he has his daddy’s feet.
Lucky to make it over the who? Blazers? Who is this mythical team you speak of?
Get well soon Luke!
