If television really cared about ratings, the execs wouldn’t have scheduled the Lakers and Celtics for Christmas Day. Seriously, how good a game will this be when:
…The Lakers return from a four-game, six-day trip on Christmas Eve. Phil Jackson said they might attempt to squeeze in a practice that afternoon. Then, because of the earliness of the game (2 p.m.), the team will not hold any sort of shootaround Christmas Day.
…The Celtics, too, won’t be at their best after playing three games in five nights and then jumping on a plane Christmas Eve.
“It’s a gimmick game,” Jackson said. “We get back at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning (on Dec.23), (then) practice on the 24th. It’s almost unfair after four games in five days (on the road).”
Jackson is counting on more than coffee and energy drinks to get his players through the Christmas Day match-up though — revenge.
“Obviously we have something to draw on from last June, but that was a long time ago. … It’s a good game, everybody will be watching it. But as far as teams being in the best position to play, I don’t know.”
Recent headlines …

it will still show the lakers depth as a team to pull through the stretch of back to back road games (playoff like)
