Shaq has had time and rest to gear up for tonight

PHOENIX — It has been well documented that Shaquille O’Neal’s performance in recent seasons is better the more rest he has. So far this season, Phoenix is 3-0 when O’Neal has at least two days of rest … and the Suns had back-to-back days without a game leading into tonight vs. the Lakers.

The three well-rested games so far: The Suns won at San Antonio (O’Neal had 15 points and 13 rebounds), at New Jersey (18 points, six rebounds) and at Milwaukee (29 points, 11 rebounds). O’Neal is shooting 70.6 percent from the field in those games.

Before their current respite, the Suns played 12 games in the season’s first 20 days. The Suns have played seven road games, and the Lakers have played only nine games overall.
