No decision yet on Sun

LOS ANGELES - Lakers coach Phil Jackson said Monday that he would talk with rookie guard Sun Yue, regarding Sun’s likely assignment with the Lakers’ D-League affiliate, the Los Angeles Defenders.

However, as of Tuesday night, Sun said he still had not spoken with Jackson on that subject.

Sun has been inactive for all nine games. Meanwhile, the Defenders have been conducting twice daily workouts at the Lakers’ El Segundo practice facility.

Currently on the Defenders’ roster are three guards that the Lakers had in training camp last month - Brandon Heath, Dwayne Mitchell and their second-round draft pick, Joe Crawford.

It would not be an unprecedented move for the Lakers to place Sun in the D-League. Coby Karl spent the 2007-2008 season playing for both the Defenders and the Lakers, and the year before that, Jordan Farmar played three games with the Defenders.
