Vujacic: no sharp pain, just sharp play

October 20th, 2008, 2:11 pm · Post a Comment · posted by KEVIN DING, OCREGISTER.COM

EL SEGUNDO — Sasha Vujacic got the ball and set off on an end-to-end run, dribbling behind his back in traffic as he neared the opponents’ foul line. He crashed into the lane and then dropped the pass off for Andrew Bynum to lay the ball in.

“Game! Game!” Vujacic yelled.

He was right. The Vujacic-to-Bynum basket was the game winner in the Lakers’ final scrimmage of the day, as Phil Jackson called an end to practice — a successful first day back in business for Vujacic and his injured left ankle.

“I didn’t have sharp pain, which is good,” said Vujacic, who wore a brace. “A little discomfort, but nothing major, so it was pretty good.”

When asked what he meant by “discomfort,” Vujacic pinched my arm to show what it felt like (”not pain, but a pinching feeling in there”). He said that was to be expected and will gauge things more by whether his ankle swells up Tuesday.

“He looked pretty good,” Phil Jackson said.
