Phil Jackson stayed behind Tuesday because of pain and swelling in his lower legs, leaving assistant Kurt Rambis to guide the Lakers against Utah at the Honda Center.
Jackson has been experiencing soreness the past few days and saw the doctor Monday. He underwent several tests but was still waiting on results, according to team spokesman John Black.
Little surprised about it, that’s for sure,” Rambis said. “Phil let us know right at the end of shootaround/practice that he wasn’t going to be coaching.
“I’m concerned about him a little bit, but I think he’ll be OK.”
