It might have been an intriguing training camp matchup - Trevor Ariza competing head-to-head with Devin Brown.
Both the 23-year old Ariza and the 29-year old Brown are hardnosed, spare-no-feelings swingman, who take pride in their defensive abilities.
Like every NBA team, the Lakers have a master list of veteran players that remain team-less in late summer.
Brown, however, can be taken off that list now. He has agreed to a contract with the New Orleans Hornets, returning to the organization in which he played for during the 2006-2007 season.
That was the year that due to Hurricane Katrina, the Hornets spent the better part of the season playing their home games in Oklahoma City, where Brown was a crowd favorite due to his exhuberante, energetic play.
Brown spent this past season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 7.5 points in 78 regular-season games. His playing time off the bench was not as substantial during the playoffs when he averaged 4.1 points.
