Vujacic says the finish is what counts

Now that he has a three-year, $15 million contract in his pocket, Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic was asked if his goal was to become a starting guard, alongside Kobe Bryant.

Veteran guard Derek Fisher started all 82 games at guard last season for the Lakers. Fisher will be 34 years old, when the 2008-2009 season commences. Vujacic, who will be entering his fifth season with the Lakers, is 24.

“My goal was not to sign a contract and then take a year off,” Vujacic said Monday. “I want to become better. I want to do everything that’s within my power. As long as I’m on the court the last 15 minutes, the last five minutes, then I’m (fine) with that.”
