Did you notice that the phrase is always “betting man?” I don’t think I’ve ever heard “betting woman” although I’m sure women bet themselves silly sometimes. Women gamble constantly … especially on their choice of men. Anyway, that’s for another day. Today, the second day of Lakers mourning, there is a topic to help turn our attention to next year.
Money. Moola. Cabbage. Dough. Stuff-you-lose.
The opportunity is there to drop a couple of hundies on the 2008-2009 season.
Despite their advancing collective ages, bland uniforms, and general haughtiness, the Celtics are the favorites at 7-to-2. The Lakers are next at 5-to-1. I guess that 39-point loss in the final game had something to do with the odds. Reminder: A year ago at this time, the Celtics were 80-to-1 underdogs.
