Paul Pierce to play Game 2; Kendrick Perkins probable

BOSTON — With each day that goes by, it becomes more and more apparent that Paul Pierce never was hurt that badly in Game 1, whether he was scared or overdramatizing. Here’s what Boston coach Doc Rivers said before Game 2 about Pierce’s knee injury: “Paul obviously is fine.”

Rivers also said: “I’m not that concerned about Paul. I really am not. He played 1-on-1 this morning and he looked good, so he’s not a concern to me much at all.”

Starting center Kendrick Perkins is having more trouble with his high ankle sprain, but he likely will play, too.

“We’re not trying to play any games here,” Rivers said. “We’re just going to let him warm up, and he’s going to tell us game time whether he can go or not.”
