BOSTON — The jersey may read Celtics, but nine of the 15 players on the Boston Celtics’ NBA finals roster have some sort of California connection.
It starting with the native-born Californians - guard Ray Allen (Merced), guard Eddie House (Berkeley), forward Paul Pierce (Oakland), forward Leon Powe (Berkeley), guard Gabe Pruitt (Los Angeles) and forward-center Scot Pollard (San Diego).
Others are connected in other ways: Forward Brian Scalabrine played at USC, guard Sam Cassell spent 2 1/2 seaons with the Clippers and forward Kevin Garnett owns a house in Malibu, where he spends most of the offseason.
“It’s Cali love…it’s west coast, baby. We’re having a good time with it,” House said.
