LOS ANGELES
Our team. Our time. Our MVP.
At least that’s what the purple and gold t-shirts said that fans were given Wednesday as they entered Staples Center.
And true to the advertising, Kobe Bryant led all scorers in the first quarter with 10 points as the Lakers led the Utah Jazz, 33-18, after one quarter in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series.
His points included 3 of 3 free throws, the last one courtesy of Utah coach Jerry Sloan, who was hit with a technical with 3:38 left in the first quarter.
Sloan might have been upset by the fact that the Jazz were in foul trouble already. Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur both had two fouls before the quarter ended.
More than likely, he might have been bothered by the fact that Lakers led, 25-13, at that point.
