LOS ANGELES — Andrew Bynum was evaluated as having made “slight improvement,” according to Lakers spokesman John Black, after having his left knee examined Wednesday by specialist Steven Gecha in New Jersey. Gecha advised Bynum to wait 3-to-4 weeks to see if there is further improvement, but if not he recommended Bynum have arthroscopic surgery to determine what is the cause of his ongoing swelling.
The improvement came in the past week or so, giving rise to some hope that there can be additional improvement in the coming weeks. Bynum is planning to see another specialist out East while he is there.
In any case, Bynum isn’t expected to play again this season.
