Trevor Ariza: two-plus weeks away

DENVER — Trevor Ariza will be out at least another two weeks after his latest exam showed his broken right foot is still not healed, though he might be able to return to game action soon after that. So it’s possible Ariza, an outstanding individual defender, could still give the Lakers significant help in the playoffs, depending on how far they advance.

Ariza will have another exam in two weeks, at which time he likely will be cleared for full activity including jumping –- and the Lakers expect him to be able to play not long after that. Ariza was cleared Friday to begin running and taking jump shots, gradually increasing that activity during the coming two weeks. Small forward Ira Newble is holding Ariza’s slot on the active roster.

    Hi Kevin,
    Are you only doing the blog? And not the main Lakers’ coverage? It’s cool, I just have trouble finding you - I wish I could just easily see “Kevin Ding” and get to your articles. For me, you were synonymous with Lakers and now I see all these other folks.

    I’m writing the main game stories and covering most of the practices. I’ll do the game-day blog for road games but maybe not home games.

    One shortcut would be to go to Google and enter “Kevin Ding Lakers” and click on the “NEWS” search (not the general search), and you’ll get my Lakers stories to come up fairly regularly.
