Rick Fox in the house

April 20th, 2008, 12:42 pm · Post a Comment · posted by JANIS CARR, OCREGISTER.COM

Jack was seated. So was Dyan. Rick Fox was in the house, along with 18,000 others who filled Staples Centers to the rafters with cheers, chants and a few verses of “I Love L.A.”

All were there to see the Lakers kick off their 2008 playoff drive against the Denver Nuggets. Minutes into Sunday’s game, there was no question which team was in control. The Lakers led, 21-11, with four minutes left in the first quarter.

The Nuggets rallied in the final two minutes, outscoring the Lakers, 9-3, to close a 10-point lead to 26-22. Carmelo Anthony lead the Nuggets with 10 points and Pau Gasol was the Lakers leading scorer with eight.

BTW:
Fox, who helped the Lakers win three NBA championships, was featured during pregame ceremonies as the “Game Ball Delivery” person, handing over the leather ball to the referee. The man is in obvious need of a movie role. Or a job.
