Warriors 115, Lakers 111

LOS ANGELES – A terrible start and nearly a tenacious comeback for victory, but the Lakers wound up just short. Stephen Jackson matched his fast start with a fabulous finish, topping Kobe Bryant with the last best shot.

After Al Harrington opened the second half with a 3-pointer, the Lakers were down by 26 points. Amazingly, though, Golden State was held to 2-of-18 shooting the rest of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter Bryant went behind the back by Baron Davis, spun by Jackson and then leapt up and passed under Harrington to Ronny Turiaf – who dunked on Kelenna Azubuike while being fouled. Turiaf’s 3-point play tied the score, 95-95, with 6:48 left. It was tight the rest of the way, but after Bryant’s 3-pointer cut Golden State’s lead to 112-111, with 30.5 seconds left, Jackson hit a 3-pointer with 8.1 seconds left.

ANKLE OW-IE

Bryant tweaked his right ankle midway through the second quarter at the end of an awkward play where Luke Walton didn’t roll the way Bryant expected and then Bryant made a bad pass toward Odom.

HIDDEN TURIAF

Last game Turiaf got creative with a celebration that involved dancing under a floating towel. This game Turiaf hid under a towel after his third first-half foul, even managing to pull his warmup jersey over his head while maintaining the towel in place.

LOS LAKERS

In honor of the seventh Fiesta Lakers event next door at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday, the team wore jerseys with “Los” above the word “Lakers.”
