LOS ANGELES – Jordan Farmar outscored Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade on Thursday night in the Lakers’ victory over the Miami Heat at Staples Center. The victory was the Lakers 10th consecutive, which ties for the 16th longest streak in club history.
After tying his career high with 21 points Tuesday night against Portland, Farmar had 24 points in 25 minutes of action against Miami – playing the entire fourth quarter over Derek Fisher again. Bryant had 21 points and eight assists. Wade had a scoreless first half before finishing with 18 points.
Miami never led, which has become a regular occurrence when the Lakers match up with the NBA’s lesser lights. But the Lakers did see their lead drop to 12 points in the fourth quarter, and Bryant and Lamar Odom went back in with 7:22 left instead of resting for Friday night in Portland.
QUOTABLE
Asked if he would’ve liked playing for a coach such as Pat Riley, Phil Jackson said quickly: “No.”
MORE PHIL & PAT
After some recent errors with team representatives filing official pregame active lists, the NBA is now having head coaches personally sign the documents – and is allowing a review of the lists an hour before the game, in case of previous error. Both Jackson and Riley signed their documents Thursday night – and perhaps their egos are reflected in the huge loopy “P’s” that begin their signatures. Riley’s “P” is more than twice as big as Jackson’s, though.
REF DISCUSSIONS
The fact that Bryant has an NBA-high 11 technical fouls – he’ll be suspended a game if he gets his 16th – didn’t stop him from disputing some calls with referees – including arguing for Pau Gasol at one point. After Gasol finally drew a Miami foul 9:34 before halftime, Gasol muttered: “It’s about (expletive) time.”
CHANNELING DIKEMBE
Bryant blocked Shawn Marion’s dunk in the final seconds of the third quarter and waggled a finger to courtside fans.

-Pau was getting mugged early in this game
-Fish is just off, and most of his shots don’t come in the flow of the offense.
-Ronny should be a Laker for life.

The true worth of the young man name Jordan Farmar is slowly being unwrap in the open. I wonder how good he will be with guidance of the Fish. His maturity and knowledge of the game is exceptional. Still there are some loose end to his game but like a sparkling diamond a few polishing will transform him into a good point guard in the mold of Fisher, and perfect for the triangle offense.
