Bryant: No. 27 in NBA history

February 23rd, 2008, 7:05 pm · 1 Comment · posted by KEVIN DING, OCREGISTER.COM

LOS ANGELES — Kobe Bryant’s place in history – aside from those 81 points in one night that pretty much locked him up some standing – is getting more and more secure. Not only are the Lakers back in title contention, giving Bryant hope to get more rings and perhaps the NBA MVP trophy, but consider Bryant’s place on the NBA’s all-time scoring chart.

With 41 points Wednesday night in Phoenix, Bryant passed David Robinson (20,790 points) for 27th on the chart. Next up – 65 points away – is Bob Pettit. This season alone, Bryant has passed Terry Cummings, Walter Davis, Clifford Robinson, Bernard King, John Stockton, Tom Chambers, Mitch Richmond, George Gervin and Robinson.

  1. BT Says:

Barring any serious or career-ending injury, I expect Kobe to play another 5-6 seasons and score 10,000 more regular season points and finish within top 5 all-time in points.
