CLEVELAND — Had occasion to observe just how many autographs Phil Jackson is asked to sign — and will comply to sign — during dinner Wednesday night in Cleveland. If it’s this hard to get through a dinner in Cleveland, think about what it’s like in some other cities.
Anyway, Jackson was very agreeable to pretty much everything — and it was a lot, to the point that it seemed as if the waiter was getting a percentage on all the requests. One fellow diner came over to the table in person to tell Jackson that he made “$30 million” in business as a result of the Bulls’ 1990s success — um, OK — and as a token of his appreciation presented Jackson with a ring made out of a dollar bill.
Sounds kind of lame, but it was at least a nice gesture.
