EL SEGUNDO - Ronny Turiaf will stay in Los Angeles to get evaluated for a slight concussion suffered Sunday, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
Turiaf did not travel with the club when it left for Minnesota on Monday and is not expected to play in Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves. Jackson said it was possible that Turiaf could join the club for Wednesday’s game at Denver, though.
Turiaf took an elbow from Orlando center Dwight Howard in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Magic.
The Lakers are already without center Kwame Brown. Chris Mihm could assume Turiaf’s spot at forward, but Mihm did not practice Monday because of inflammation in his foot and Jackson was unsure of how he would adjust for Tuesday.
Turiaf is averaging 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds a game.
