Brown’s timetable

December 2nd, 2007, 7:20 pm · Post a Comment · posted by KEVIN DING, OCREGISTER.COM

Phil Jackson had been hoping center Kwame Brown, who did some on-court work in practice Saturday, might be about a week away from returning to game action. But Jackson said Sunday night that his medical staff has advised giving Brown’s knee – he has a sprained medial collateral ligament – more time to heal.

The Lakers have three days off before and after their Dec. 9 game against Golden State and Jackson would love to have Brown to go up against San Antonio’s Tim Duncan on Dec. 13. But Jackson said: “That still might be a little bit early.”

Jackson, who has been critical of Brown’s recovery work in the past, said this time: “He’s working hard at it. And I have to give him some credit.”
